Singapore Reveals Delivery Date for First Airbus Tanker

MELBOURNE, Australia — Singapore will take delivery of its first Airbus Defence and Space A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport later this year, as the country’s Air Force celebrates its 50th anniversary.

According to a news release issued by Singapore’s Defence Ministry detailing events and activities that the Republic of Singapore Air Force will hold to mark the anniversary, the A330 MRTT will make its first public appearance at a parade on Sept. 1, the date the service was formed in 1968 as the Singapore Air Defence Command.

Am Air Force spokesperson told Defense News that the exact date of the aircraft’s arrival is still being finalized and more details will be announced closer to the event.

The latest photos of the aircraft — taken at Toulouse, France, in November 2017 during the testing and evaluation phase following the conversion to the tanker configuration — show it still in its tan primer and not yet painted in the Air Force’s colors.

Singapore announced its order of six A330 MRTTs in March 2014 to recapitalize its fleet of midair refueling tankers. The Air Force currently operates a fleet of four Boeing KC-135R Stratotankers, acquired and refurbished in 2000 from stored ex-U.S. Air Force airframes.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force also has about five of its 10 Lockheed Martin C-130B/H Hercules airlifters plumbed for the tanker role, although they are no longer used in this role, as the Air Force currently does not operate aircraft equipped for refueling by probe.

The first Air Force A330 MRTT will be delivered in what is known as the MRTT Enhanced configuration, featuring a package of aerodynamic improvements, structural modifications and avionics updates over the previous baseline military variant. France and South Korea will also be receiving their A330 MRTTs in this standard.

A Harris subsidiary has received a $44.8 million contract to assist the U.S government in efforts to deliver command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance equipment to the Philippine military.

Harris’ RF Communications business will design, engineer and test a joint command and control system of systems for the armed forces of the Philippine under the foreign military sales contract from the U.S. Navy, the Defense Department said Friday.

Work is scheduled to occur through December 2020 and also includes program management along with post-installation test, training and maintenance services.

The Philippines will receive a Global Command and Control System – Maritime designed to integrate and disseminate information across the AFP’s multiple service-specific headquarters.

DoD noted the U.S. will also equip AFP command centers with satellite communications and microwave communications platforms in an effort to establish a unified interconnection between military C2 assets in the Philippines.

The Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command will obligate $40.3 million in FMS funds to finance base services under the sole-source contract.

Puslitbang Alpalhan Melaksanakan Uji Fungsi Pengembangan Prototipe Rudal Petir di Lanud Gorda Serang

Serang - Balitbang Kemhan dalam hal ini yang terkait Puslitbang Alpalhan melaksanakan uji fungsi pengembangan prototipe rudal petir di Lanud Gorda Desa Lamaran Serang, Banten. Uji fungsi pengembangan prototipe rudal petir disaksikan oleh Ses Balitbang Kemhan Laksma TNI Ir. A. Budiharja Raden, Kabid Matra Laut Puslitbang Alpalhan Balitbang Kemhan Kolonel Laut (KH) Ir. Indra Usmansyah, MM., para pejabat di lingkungan TNI dan Kemhan, Dislitbang AL, Dislitbang AU, dan tim uji coba dari PT. Sari Bahari Malang.

Kegiatan diawali sambutan oleh Ses Balitbang Kemhan Laksma TNI Ir. A. Budiharja Raden, pembacaan doa, dilanjutkan uji fungsi rudal petir dari tim PT. Sari Bahari dan terakhir evaluasi hasil pelaksanaan uji fungsi rudal petir. Pelaksanaan uji fungsi pengembangan prototipe rudal petir ini adalah hasil kerjasama antara Balitbang Kemhan dengan PT. Sari Bahari yang telah melaksanakan uji fungsi prototipe rudal petir yang ke-3. Dalam pelaksanaannya, uji fungsi rudal petir akan dilontarkan dengan platform peluncur dan mendarat dengan menggunakan jaring. Rudal petir ini adalah buatan dan dikembangkan di dalam negeri yang merupakan inovasi dan kemandirian industri pertahanan nasional.

Perlu diketahui bahwa untuk meningkatkan performance rudal petir tersebut telah dilakukan pengembangan diantaranya meningkatkan kecepatan yang diharapkan bisa mencapai 350 km/jam, jarak jangkauan sekitar 80 km, pengembangan sistem kontrol auto pilot dan seeker, pembuatan peluncur rudal serta pengembangan warhead. Scope of work dari pengembangan rudal petir ini dititikberatkan pada peningkatan kecepatan, jarak jangkau, sistem kontrol, dan uji fungsi. Dengan adanya target pengembangan tersebut maka terjadi perubahan air frame.

Fourth Gepard 3.9 Arrived in Cam Ranh

Marine Page Marine Traffic information has updated position Rolldock Star - Dutch nationality transports ship carrying Gepard missiles frigates of Vietnam.

According to Marine Traffic, the Rolldock Star super-heavy tanker, arrived at the port of Singapore on Jan. 17 and anchored one day for refueling, as well as for logistics.

On the 18th of January, the Rolldock Star departed for the final leg of Vietnam's Cam Ranh Port, arriving at 13 am on Saturday.

As usual, the Rolldock Star will be anchored outside of Cam Ranh Bay until the next morning before being towed into the port on 21 January. The fourth ship of the Vietnam Navy's Gepard 3.9 missile will be unloaded soon after.

As of January 22, the Vietnamese People's Navy has officially received the fourth Gepard 3.9 missile defense and is also the last to be built under a contract signed in October 2012. .

Rosoboronexport then handed over the contract to Zelenodolsk Plant in February 2013. The third warship, the 488th, was launched in late April, and the 487th was launched on 26 May.

On 4/12/2017, the Rolldock Star boarded the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk to transport the 487 Gepard to Vietnam after sending the Gepard-487 to Cam Ranh port safely on Oct. 27. / 2017. 

During the sailing, the Rolldock Star docked in Istanbul on December 6, 2017 and the Gibraltar port area on December 12, 1977 for refueling, after which the ship continued to move to the Atlantic.

After crossing the Cape of Good Hope, the Rolldock Star entered the Indian Ocean, looped back to Indonesia and headed for Singapore safely, less than two days later than originally scheduled (15/01/2018), before at Cam Ranh port on January 20.

With the acquisition of four modern Gepard 3.9 missile guards, the strength of the Vietnamese People's Navy has been raised to a new height, capable of defending the sovereignty of the nation in the new period.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - TNI Angkatan Laut (TNI AL) resmi melakukan pemisahan komando kapal-kapal Satuan Kapal Patroli (Satrol) kepada 14 Satuan Keamanan Laut (Satkamla) Pangkalan Utama TNI AL (Lantamal) dari Komando Kawasan Armada (Koarmada) Barat dan melantik Komandan Satrol Lantamal lewat sebuah upacara pagi ini. Kapal-kapal itu kini disebar ke 14 Lantamal yang berada di seluruh Indonesia.

KSAL Laksamana TNI Ade Supandi mengatakan, tujuan dari pemisahan komando kapal Satrol untuk meningkatkan efektivitas dan efisiensi jika dibutuhkan reaksi cepat dalam mengamankan wilayah perairan.

Sekaligus, merespons berbagai kerawanan, melakukan operasi keamanan laut, tanggap dalam bencana jika membutuhkan kedatangan kapal patroli tersebut segera.

"Misal ke Natuna, laut Jawa, laut Aru, didukung dari satuan patroli di sana, baru untuk nanti yang terpusat nanti kapal kombatan saja," ucap Ade Supandi sebagai inspektur upacara di Dermaga Sunda Komplek Satuan Koarmabar I, Pondok Dayung, Tanjung Priok, Jakarta Utara, Senin (22/1/2018).

Sebelum dilakukannya pemisahan, jika dibutuhkan respons cepat dari datangnya kapal Satrol, maka harus melewati proses administrasi dan berangkat dari daerah tertentu terlebih dahulu. Waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk tiba di lokasi yang dibutuhkan pun menjadi lebih lama.

"Karena (sebelumnya) terpusat di Surabaya dan Jakarta, kemudian dikerahkan ke laut menunggu lama. Jadi harus ada markas komando Lantamal," ujar Ade.

Kini, Satkamla Lantamal sudah memiliki kapal dan otoritas sendiri untuk menggerakan komando di daerahnya

Tersebarnya kapal Satrol di 14 Lantamal pun otomatis menjadikan pergerakan kapal menjadi lebih cepat untuk tiba di lokasi yang dibutuhkan.

Harapannya, persoalan-persoalan di laut seperti illegal fishing, illegal mining, illegal logging, drugs trafficking dan people smuggling dapat terselesaikan dengan cepat.

"Kalau kita punya seperti di Jayapura, nanti akan lebih mudah untuk oprasi dari laut," kata Ade.

Upacara pemisahan komando kepada 14 Lantamal dan pelantikan Komandan Satrol Lantamal pun berlangsung khidmat. Upacara dihadiri para Pejabat Utama Mabesal dan para Pangkotama TNI AL dengan Komandan Upacara Kolonel Laut (P) Johannes Djanarko Wibowo.

Russia will Supply Myanmar with Six Su-30 Fighters

NEIPIIDO (Myanmar) - RIA Novosti. Myanmar will buy six Su-30 fighters from Russia and also are interested in sea and land equipment, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin told journalists on Monday.

"During the visit of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, an agreement was reached on the purchase of six Su-30 planes by Myanmar ... Myanmar side also shows interest in Russian-made sea and land equipment," Fomin said.

According to him, the Su-30, which "in practice proved the combat qualities of a world-class aircraft," should become the main fighter of the Myanmar air force.

Russian weapons, Fomin said, proved to be very good at serving in the Armed Forces of Myanmar.

Penegasan ini disampaikan Kepala Staf Angkatan Udara (Kasau) Marsekal TNI Yuyu Sutisna, S.E, M.M., dalam entry briefing kepada para pejabat, Panglima, dan Komandan Satuan TNI AU, di Mabesau, Cilangkap, Jakarta Senin (22/1). Hadir Sekjen Kemhan Marsdya TNI Hadiyan Sumintaatmadja, Wagub Lemhannas Marsdya TNI Bagus Puruhito, Irjenau, Koorsahli Kasau, para Asisten Kasau, Panglima, Komandan dan para Pejabat TNI Angkatan Udara

Kasau menegaskan bahwa kebijakan TNI AU dalam mendukung program pemerintah mewujudkan Indonesia sebagai poros maritim dunia, adalah dengan meningkatkan kemampuan TNI AU untuk melaksanakan maritime air strike dan maritime air support.

“Saat ini kita sudah memasuki tahapan Renstra II (2015-2019), sementara alutsista belum diterima. Untuk itu, saya harapkan agar proses pengadaan pemenuhan alutsista Renstra ke II dapat segera direalisasikan”, tegas Kasau.

Dijelaskan Kasau, pembangunan postur TNI AU yang direncanakan akan tetap mengarah pada memperkuat kemampuan operasional satuan udara, yang mampu menghadirkan air superiority ke tengah samudra, security coverage bagi Naval Force. Kasau minta agar dinas dan jajaran terkait segera melaksanakan koordinasi dengan Mabes TNI, Kemhan serta Kementerian/Lembaga terkait lainnya, agar proses pengadaan pemenuhan alutsista dapat dipercepat dengan tetap mengikuti aturan yang berlaku.

Menurut Kasau pengadaan alutsista yang masih belum terpenuhi meliputi pesawat pengganti F-5, pesawat helikopter angkut, helikopter VVIP/VIP, pesawat angkut berat, pesawat multipurpose amphibious, pesawat latih dan modernisasi pesawat C130 H/HS, pesawat NC-212i, pesawat CN-295 Special Mission (Kodal), PTTA, radar dan senjata pesawat T-50i, Rudal Pam Ibukota, PSU, dan Radar GCI.

Kasau menilai, para pendahulu TNI AU telah membawa organisasi TNI AU ke tingkat perkembangan yang cukup baik. Oleh karena itu TNI AU harus tetap optimis, karena apa yang di lihat saat ini, sudah merupakan hasil optimal dari kondisi yang ada.

”Dengan dilandasi sifat jujur, inovatif dan adaptif, saya harapkan dapat membangkitkan motivasi kita semua untuk memberikan pengabdian yang terbaik kepada TNI Angkatan Udara”, harap Kasau.

PT PAL Produksi Tujuh Kapal Tahun Ini

PT PAL produksi tujuh kapal cepat rudal tahun ini

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Penataran Angkatan Laut (PAL) Indonesia di tahun 2018 menargetkan memproduksi sedikitnya tujuh kapal cepat rudal (KCR), baik untuk keperluan alutsista TNI AL maupun ekspor ke negara-negara di Asia Tenggara dan Afrika.

Direktur Utama PT PAL Indonesia Budiman Saleh mengatakan, produksi kapal perang di tahun 2018 meningkat dibandingkan dua tahun sebelumnya.

"Target kami untuk tahun ini ada empat kapal cepat rudal yang 60 meter pesanan dari TNI AL, kemudian juga target ekspor kami di Malaysia bisa dapat dua, di Thailand itu targetnya ada satu kapal, dan beberapa dari negara Afrika," kata Budiman usai bertemu Wakil Presiden Jusuf Kalla di Jakarta, Senin (22/1).

Produksi kapal cepat rudal jenis KCR-60 meter merupakan pesanan tahap kedua oleh TNI AL, setelah sebelumnya PT PAL Indonesia telah menyelesaikan pembuatan tiga kapal rudal serupa dan diserahkan kepada TNI AL.

Selain itu, PT PAL juga memproduksi kapal Perusak Kawal Rudal (PKR) dan "Landing Platform Dock" (LPD) untuk keperluan perlengkapan alutsista pertahanan negara di laut.

"Terkait ekspor, kita sudah masuk di pasar Asia Tenggara, yaitu di Thailand, Malaysia, dan juga kembali ke Filipina serta beberapa negara di Afrika seperti Senegal, Kongo, Guinea Bissau dan Burkina Faso," paparnya.

Budiman bersama beberapa direksi PT PAL Indonesia melaporkan kepada Wapres Jusuf Kalla di Jakarta, Senin, terkait perkembangan industri kapal Indonesia serta rencana memberikan pelatihan kepada masyarakat muda Indonesia.

"Kami juga bicara tentang vokasi sebagai salah satu prgram besar Pemerintah kita kepada kurang lebih 1.500 anak Indonesia dari seluruh wilayah timur sampai barat mulai November 2017 sampai dengan November 2018," ujar Budiman. (Kontan)

PT PAL optimistis pendapatan 2018 meningkat dua kali lipat

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) optimistis mengalami kenaikan pendapatan hingga dua kali lipat pada tahun 2018 dibandingkan tahun 2017.

"Tahun 2016 merupakan suatu masa sulit bagi PT PAL, kemudian di 2017 itu ada pertumbuhan sales (penjualan) sekitar dua kali lipat (dari 2016). Alhamdulillah, mungkin di 2018 itu nanti dua kali lipat lagi," kata Direktur Utama PL PAL Indonesia Budiman Saleh usai menemui Wakil Presiden Jusuf Kalla di Jakarta, Senin.

Untuk tahun 2018, PT PAL Indonesia menargetkan pendapatan penjualan kapal perang sebesar Rp2,4 triliun, meningkat dua kali lipat dari pendapatan 2017 sebesar Rp1,2 triliun.

Sementara itu, nilai kontrak yang ditargetkan PT PAL Indonesia di tahun 2018 sebesar Rp4 triliun, sehingga jika ditambah nilai sisa kontrak tahun lalu senilai Rp3 triliun, maka total nilai kontrak saat ini mencapai Rp7 triliun.

"Jadi kontrak baru yang akan kita kejar ditargetkan di 2018 itu adalah Rp4 triliun, carry over kontrak dari 2017 ke 2018 itu ada Rp3 triliun. Jadi book order value-nya lumayan tinggi, sekitar Rp7 triliun," jelasnya.

Setelah menyelesaikan pesanan kapal perang dari Filipina, PT PAL Indonesia mulai merambah negara-negara kawasan Asia Tenggara lain dan juga di Afrika, seperti Malaysia, Thailand, Senegal, Kongo, Burkina Faso dan Guinea Bissau.

Meskipun memperluas ranah ekspor, PT PAL Indonesia memastikan kebutuhan dalam negeri untuk penguatan alutsista TNI AL tetap terpenuhi.

"Kita masih mempunyai kapasitas sisa yang bisa digunakan untuk kebutuhan ekspor. Jadi, jangan sampai kebutuhan dalam negeri tidak terpenuhi karena overload, utilisasi sudah dipakai untuk keperluan ekspor non-TNI," ujarnya.

Budiman bersama beberapa anggota direksi PT PAL Indonesia melaporkan kepada Wapres Jusuf Kalla di Jakarta, Senin, terkait perkembangan industri kapal Indonesia serta rencana memberikan pelatihan kepada masyarakat muda Indonesia.

Russia is Ready to Share with Myanmar the Experience of Combating Drones

NEIPIIDO (Myanmar) - RIA Novosti. Russia is ready to share with Myanmar the experience of fighting long-range unmanned aerial vehicles that are used for terrorist attacks by militants in Syria, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"A new type of terrorist threat has appeared in Syria - unmanned aerial vehicles, the range of which is more than 100 kilometers, and we are ready to share our experience in combating these threats," Shoygu said on Saturday during a meeting with the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Myanmar, Senior General Ming Aung Hlin.
Shoigu drew attention to the fact that terrorist attacks with the help of drones can now be committed not only in Syria.

"These are very serious threats, and we are ready to share the experience that we already have in combating drones, which the terrorists began to use," the defense minister said.

The problem of countering terrorist threats is extremely urgent for Myanmar. Menhan Setuju TNI AU Tambah Hercules

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Menteri Pertahanan (Menhan) Ryamizard Ryacudu setuju penambahan pesawat angkut Hercules untuk TNI AU.

Namun, ia memberikan catatan agar pengadaan alutsista TNI itu juga memperhatikan kesediaan anggaran.

"Enggak usah banyak-banyak juga, yang penting ada," ujar Ryamizard di Kantor Kementerian Koordinator Politik, Hukum, dan Keamanan, Jakarta, Senin (22/1/2018).

Menurut Menhan, pesawat Hercules milik TNI AU saat ini masih cukup nyaman. Dari sisi mesin, Ryamizard bahkan memuji pesawat Hercules TNI AU masih handal meski sudah berusia tua.

Bila dibandingkan dengan India dan Singapura, kata dia, pesawat angkut TNI AU tidak kalah jauh. Sebab, Hercules milik kedua negara tersebut juga punya umur yang tua.

Ia menuturkan, perbedaan antara Hercules milik RI dan India serta Singapura, yakni terletak pada sisi perawatan atau pemeliharaannya.

Sebagai tindak lanjut, ia akan bicara dulu dengan Panglima TNI Marsekal Hadi Tjahjanto.

"Kami hitung-hitung dulu dananya. Kami inikan tentara rakyat, rakyat dulu pikirkan, baru diri sendiri. Jangan pikirkan diri sendiri baru rakyat," ucap dia.

Sebelumnya, Panglima TNI Marsekal Hadi Tjahjanto mengatakan bahwa Alat Utama Sistem Persenjataan (Alutsista) TNI AU masih perlu ditambah. Mulai dari tambahan 12 radar baru hingga penambahan pesawat angkut Hercules.

"Kami merencanakan pesawat Hercules gantikan dengan tipe Hercules sama namun tipe akan kami tingkatkan menjadi tipe J termasuk pesawat angkut ringan dan helikopter," kata dia usai acara serah terima jabatan Kepala Staf Angkatan Udara (KSAU) di Lanud Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, Jumat (19/1/2018).

Drones and the Future of Aerial Combined Arms

Today, fighter pilots approach warfare like a questing medieval knight. They search for opponents with similar capabilities and defeat them by using technologically superior equipment or better application of individual tactics and techniques. For decades, leading air forces nurtured this dynamic by developing expensive, manned air superiority fighters. This will all soon change. Advances in unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) will turn fighter pilots from noble combatants to small-unit leaders and drive the development of new aerial combined arms tactics.

Since ancient times, commanders have dealt with diverse threats by integrating combat arms to achieve complementary effect. Macedonian hoplites were protected by a screen of javelin-throwing skirmishers, medieval pikemen cooperated with primitive musketeers, and modern U.S. Army brigade combat teams integrate artillery, armor, and infantry elements into a unified force. Fighter pilots of the future will not be the individualistic warriors of today, but rather commanders of small combined arms forces largely consisting of UCAVs. As in modern ground forces, these integrated groups of manned fighters and UCAVs will possess a mix of specialized capabilities ranging from direct combat to electronic warfare.

A future fighter aircraft with advanced communications will control semi-autonomous UCAV systems from dozens or hundreds of miles behind the line of battle, well outside the range of most enemy missiles and radars. From this vantage point, the fighter commander will guide drones in a myriad of tasks, locating enemy fighters with advanced radar and infrared sensors, engaging them with UCAV-carried missiles, and blinding the enemy through electronic jamming and attack. While opponents are tied up dogfighting drones, future fighter commanders will seize advantageous positions or engage distracted enemy aircraft with their own missiles.

If a fighter commander is task-saturated or destroyed, aircraft such as the E-3 airborne early warning control center (AWACS) will be able to assume control of the UCAVs through communications links. Pilots onboard the AWACs will fly additional drones in support of fighter elements and take control of UCAVs as friendly manned fighters are lost to the enemy. As the E-3’s embedded pilots engage the enemy, other crewmen will feed information to higher headquarters and sync intelligence inputs from friendly aircraft in theater.

Even further from the front lines, legacy bombers such as the B-1 and B-52 will loiter hundreds of miles away and sling long-range missiles at enemy targets painted by UCAV radars and infrared sensors, greatly expanding the number of munitions in the fight. This “aerial artillery” will be especially useful against foes fielding large numbers of fourth-generation fighters.

Fifth-generation fighters such as the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter already attempt to integrate many of the features described above into a single platform, but at great expense and increased vulnerability. A single enemy missile could remove a $148 million investment from the battlefield, the current production cost of an F-35A. Dispersing the capabilities of a fifth-generation fighter aircraft like the F-35 across a team of UCAVs also allows for individual weapon systems to be used in the best manner possible. The integration of these functions into a single fighter forces the pilot to employ his systems sub-optimally; theoretically, a stealth fighter conducting an electronic attack could expose its location by repeatedly broadcasting signals traceable by enemy aircraft. Distributing these capabilities among UCAVs allows the controlling fighter to achieve complementary effects by placing UCAVs into the best position to employ their particular weapon system or intelligence-collection capability. Imagine a forward-positioned UCAV jamming an enemy fighter’s radar moments before the impact of its wingman’s missile.

Combined arms tactics on the ground have evolved for over 2,000 years, but aerial combined arms tactics remain in infancy. The modest integration of unmanned assets with manned fighters and bombers over the last decade has been impressive, but remains nascent. As nations invest hundreds of billions in developing the next air superiority fighter, they should consider how changes in the nature of air combat could affect the dominance of any single platform. They also should examine their financial ability to replace a $100 million-plus aircraft during a protracted air war. The U.S. military lost 671 F-4 Phantoms during the Vietnam War, but were able to absorb the cost — an F-4 would be approximately $20 million today. The replacement of 671 F-35A Joint Strike Fighters would cost nearly $100 billion, almost a fifth of the annual defense budget!

The fifth-generation fighters in development far surpass their fourth-generation predecessors, but combined arms concepts, not isolated technology, triumph in combat. At the beginning of World War II, the German Wehrmacht possessed similar technology to its main opponents, but easily beat French and British armies by executing a superior concept of technological integration, blitzkrieg. Thai Army Boosts Air Defense Missile Capability

The Royal Thai Army (RTA) has displayed the Chinese KS (KaiShan)-1C surface-to-air missile (SAM) system that it has acquired in the past two years. It is also going ahead this year, with the purchase of vertical launch (VL) MICA air defense missile systems from MBDA. Until now, the RTA operated only short-range anti-aircraft guns such as the Oerlikon GDF-007, and man-portable missiles such as the Thales Starstreak.

The KS-1C was developed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Cooperation (CASIC) and is the improved version of the KS-1A. It has an increased range, to 70 km from 50 km, and engagement altitude to 27 km from 24 km. The RTA KS-1Cs are fired from twin launch-rails mounted on a Chinese-made 6x6 truck.



The Chinese SAM system is paired with the H-200 phased-array engagement radar, which has detection range of up to 120 km. At the time of development, the H-200 was China’s first phased-array air defense radar, and many likened the display and concept of operation to those of the American Patriot AN/MPQ-53 system. Chinese literature highlighted that the H-200 radar is able to direct six KS-1 missiles to intercept three to six incoming targets.

Unlike the Western-leaning Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF), the RTA has adopted various Chinese equipment, including the WS-1 302 mm multiple rocket launcher and the new VT-4 main battle tank. Perhaps the RTAF will take an interest in China’s UAV systems, which are being heavily marketed for export.

At last year’s Defence and Security Show in Bangkok, Pascal Emler, regional executive export sales for MBDA, said that his company will deliver two truck-mounted VL MICA launchers this year, along with a command truck. But the RTA decided not to buy a second pair of launchers, as originally planned in 2013. MBDA claims that the “fire-and-forget” MICA is the only one in the world capable of being fitted with either a heat-seeking homing head (VL MICA IR) or with an active radar (VL MICA RF).

The Thai MICA firing unit will be paired with an Airbus Defence & Space TRML-3D/32 mobile C-band phased-array radar that has a detection range of up to 200 km.

Australia and Japan have outlined an intention to expand defence equipment collaboration, building on Canberra’s newly confirmed deal to sell additional Bushmaster multirole protected vehicles to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF).

The pledge to increase bilateral co-operation in military equipment, science, and technologies was made during meetings in Tokyo on 18 January between Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his visiting Australian counterpart Malcolm Turnbull.

Turnbull used the visit to promote Australian defence exports, and he highlighted Thales Australia’s sales of the Bushmaster as an example of expanding opportunities.

Thales Australia built and supplied four Bushmaster vehicles to the JGSDF in 2014 at a cost of around AUD3.6 million (USD2.8 million) and Turnbull said that the company is scheduled to “ship another tranche of four Bushmasters” during the next few months.

Hadi mengingatkan, tantangan tugas TNI AU ke depan tidaklah semakin ringan, bahkan bisa semakin sulit. Namun dengan kebersamaan, seluruh prajurit TNI AU akan mampu melaksanakan tugas dengan baik dalam menegakkan kedaulatan, menjaga keutuhan wilayah dan melindungi segenap bangsa.

"Kita harus bertekad membangun tentara yang profesional, disiplin, militan dan rendah hati, melalui profesionalisme, disiplin dan militan, menjadikan TNI hebat dalam segala medan tugas," ujarnya.

TNI AL Targetkan Punya 6 Kapal Hidrografi untuk Petakan Perairan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - TNI Angkatan Laut menargetkan memiliki enam buah kapal hidrografi guna meningkatkan kualitas peta perairan Indonesia. Kapal tersebut lebih canggih dari kapal hidrografi milik negara Asia Tenggara lainnya.

"Malah KSAL dari Perancis, sudah pernah bilang akan meniru kapal hidrografi kami, karena kami lebih lengkap," kata Kepala Staf TNI Angkatan Laut Laksamana Ade Supandi di Pusat Hidrografi TNI AL pada Kamis, 18 Januari 2018.


Ade mengatakan kelebihan kapal hidrografi milik TNI AL ialah pada teknologi dan kelengkapan persenjataan yang dimiliki. "Dan beberapa survei yang kita lakukan sudah ada hasilnya, salah satunya kita akan membuat peta bawah air," ujar dia.

Digenjotnya hidrografi TNI AL, kata Ade, merupakan salah satu upaya menjadikan Indonesia sebagai poros maritim dunia. Menurut dia, penyediaan data ialah hal yang penting.

Ade mengatakan Hidrografi Angkatan Laut memiliki peran penting karena dengan pemetaan perairan yang akurat, maka TNI akan dapat melindungi batas-batas wilayah Indonesia. "Jadi Kapus Hidrosal, mengemban amanah cukup berat," ujarnya.

Pushidrosal merupakan perwakilan Indonesia dalam bidang hidrografi. Satuan tersebut menyediakan data dan informasi hidro-oseanografi dan memberikan perlindungan lingkungan laut untuk kepentingan sipil dan militer. Kegiatan dari satuan ini antara lain survei, penelitian, pemetaan laut, penerapan lingkungan laut, dan keselamatan navigasi laut untuk pertahanan dalam tugas pokok TNI AL.

The Indonesian Air Force (Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Udara) has begun a study to expand the service’s aerial refuelling capabilities, with a view on establishing a formal acquisition programme for two airframes by 2024, a TNI-AU official told Jane’s on 18 January.

The aircraft types that are being compared in this study are the A330 multirole tanker-transport (MRTT) from Airbus, and what the Indonesians allude to as a militarised version of the Boeing 767 tanker, in reference to the KC-46A Pegasus.

Issues that will be scrutinised in the study include suitability for Indonesian operational requirements, compatibility of refuelling methods with the TNI-AU’s fleet of aircraft, interoperability with existing and future assets, and life-cycle costs.

Also to be considered are possible local and foreign funding options that can be tapped upon, and potential for transfer-of-technology arrangements with local companies such as state-owned aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTD), said the TNI-AU official.

A completion of this study will then pave the way for a definition of programme parameters, and the TNI-AU is expected to launch a formal acquisition programme, and funding request from the Indonesian Ministry of Defence, in the 2020–24 timeframe.

Prior to June 2015, the TNI-AU operated a fleet of two pod-equipped KC-130Bs, which were delivered in the early 1960s. One of these aircraft crashed in Medan on 30 June of that year after developing engine troubles, and since then the TNI-AU has had to rely on a single airframe of the type for its aerial refueling needs. The sole KC-130B is currently stationed with the TNI-AU’s Aviation Squadron 32 at the Abdul Rachman Saleh airbase in Malang.

Optical cables are used to replace the conventional ones of older radar generations. Accordingly, the signal speed of the radar is optimized, and the LAN system is also designed with the best processing and communication between the coordinator on the RV-02.

RV-02, with the participation of an automatic hydraulic control system, has a recovery time of only 10-15 minutes, which is much lower than the deployment time of radar radars. from 45 minutes - 1 hour.
