Elements of the 2018 Marine Rotational Force–Darwin (MRF-D) will begin arriving in the Top End this month to prepare for the seventh and largest rotation to date. The rotation will include 1,587 US Marines, eight MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft and an artillery battery of six M777 Howitzers.

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Marise Payne welcomed the increased Marine rotation, which underscores the commitment of both the Australian and US Governments to the full implementation of the United States Force Posture Initiatives.

“These Initiatives strengthen the ability of Australia and the US to work together, and with regional partners, in the interests of regional stability and security,” Minister Payne said.

Since 2012, the MRF-D has been increasing in size and complexity, further enhancing the interoperability and capability of Australian and US forces.

“During major exercises the rotation will include additional equipment and assets such as AH-1W Super Cobra helicopters, UH-1Y Venom helicopters, F/A-18 Hornet aircraft and MC-130 Hercules aircraft,” Minister Payne said. 

Minister Payne said the increase in personnel and capability will enable a broader range of exercises and training activities with the Australian Defence Force and other regional nations.

“During the six-month training period, the US Marines are expected to participate in 15 training activities alongside the ADF. Other regional nations, including Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and many more will also participate in or observe some of these training activities,” Minister Payne said.

“Australia and the US have a longstanding history of working together to promote peace, security and stability across the globe. Australia welcomes opportunities to work with the United States to foster greater cooperation with our regional partners.”

Minister Payne said in addition to training with the US Marines, the ADF conducts air training exercises with the US Air Force personnel and regional nations under the Enhanced Air Cooperation Initiative.

This year’s EAC activities include an aero medical evacuation training mission; 5th generation fighter integration; combat mobility activities with the US Marine Corps; undertaking integrated aircraft maintenance; and expanding air-to-air refuelling capabilities.

“Enhanced Air Cooperation activities complement and support training with the US Marines, as it increases the ability of Australia and the US to deploy into the region, where and when they are required to do so,” Minister Payne said.

“The US military plays a vital role in underwriting security and stability across the Indo-Pacific, and the Force Posture Initiatives will be an essential component in preserving stability and security over the coming decades,” she said.

The US Marines are expected to complete the rotation of training in Australia in October 2018.

AMRAAM for Indonesia and Other Countries Start to Produce by Raytheon

Raytheon Missile Co., Tucson, Arizona, has been awarded a $523,148,647 fixed-price incentive modification (P00001) to previously awarded contract FA8675-18-C-0003 for Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile (AMRAAM) Production Lot 31.  

This modification provides for AMRAAM Production Lot 32 for the production of the AMRAAM missile and other AMRAAM system items. 

Work will be performed in Tucson, Arizona, and is expected to be complete by Jan. 31, 2021.  This contract involves foreign military sales to Japan, Kuwait, Poland, Indonesia, Qatar, Germany, Australia, and the United Kingdom. 

Fiscal 2018 production funds in the amount of $308,016,581; fiscal 2018 research and development funds in the amount of $3,569,227; and foreign military sales funds in the amount $211,562,839 are being obligated at the time of award.

DND Reboots Procurement for Combat Helicopters

MANILA -- Following the cancellation of the PHP12-billion Bell 212EPI helicopter contract with Canadian Commercial Corp. (CCC), the Department of National Defense (DND) has rebooted the procurement process for its combat utility helicopters (CUHs) requirement.

"The project has been cancelled and CCC received the notification regarding the cancellation. We will reboot the procurement of the CUHs and we are currently studying other possible sources of the units," DND spokesperson Arsenio Andolong said.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana earlier said they are checking out helicopter suppliers from South Korea, Russia, China, Turkey and other nations for medium lift helicopters in lieu of the Bell 412.

The PHP12-billion contract is supposedly for CCC to deliver 12 units of Bell 412EPI helicopters by 2019 up to 2020.

The cancellation of the contract comes after the Canadian government ordered the review of the deal between the DND and CCC after receiving reports that the Philippines is planning to use the helicopters against rebel forces.

"While the combat utility helicopters being purchased are primarily for the purpose of transporting personnel and supplies, the Department believes that it does not owe the Canadian government any justification for an outright purchase of equipment from a privately-owned company," Andolong earlier said.

He also stressed that the DND will continue to pursue the modernization program, and will look into the procurement of combat utility helicopters from other countries in lieu of the Bell 412.

South Korea Tests The First Prototype of Long-Range Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

The South Korean spotter, under the name Fangnook, distributed the photographs of the first prototype of the South Korean reconnaissance-strike unmanned aerial vehicle of the long range, known under the designation KUS-FS (Korean Unmanned System) , which he had made on March 16, 2018. These are the first known images of the flying prototype of this UAV in open sources. It is known that this UAV was developed with the lead role of the aviation division of the South Korean Korean Air (Korea Air Aerospace Division) with the participation of the Defense Development Agency (ADD) of the Ministry of Defense of South Korea. It is known that for the first time the first prototype KUS-FS (on-board number "001") was filmed for the first time, it made the first flight in 2012, and, judging by the above pictures, by now it is being tested with a full set of equipment and target load. It is reported that the UAV test should be completed by the end of 2018, after the apparatus will be handed over to the military tests of the South Korean Air Force.

UAV KUS-FS is a very large aircraft with take-off weight up to 4.5 tons and equipped with a retractable landing gear. The length of the apparatus is estimated at 13 meters, and the wing span is 25 meters. Used turboprop engine series Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 with a capacity of about 1200 hp. with pushing screw. The cruising speed is about 250 km / h, the flight duration is from 24 to 32 hours, the operational ceiling is up to 15500 meters. To communicate with the ground control station, satellite communication equipment is used, one ground station can control three or five UAVs.

The UAV is equipped with a very rich complex of reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting equipment, including the LIG Nex1 synthetic aperture radar and the 24-hour Hanwha System electronic-optical station, as well as radio and electronic intelligence equipment. It is also possible to equip the UAV with EW equipment and other types of radar. Managed weapons (probably special design) with a total mass of up to 500 kg are placed on four external suspension nodes.

TNI AU.  “Sebuah pesawat tempur kita tertembak dan jatuh di daerah musuh, (Tompaso Minahasa) dalam sebuah operasi tempur“. Pilot sempat keluar dari pesawat menggunakan kursi lontar (Ejection seat) sesaat sebelum pesawatnya hancur menghantam bumi. Setelah mendapat laporan dan berkoordinasi dengan Pimpinan maka segera di bentuk tim penyelamat gabungan antara Paskhas TNI AU dan CCT Special Force dari Amerika Serikat untuk mencari dan menyelamatkan personil dan materil yang ikut jatuh bersama pesawat agar jangan sampai jatuh ke tangan musuh.

Pada Selasa (21/3), malam hari pukul 19.00 Wita segera tim gabungaan Paskhas TNI AU dan CCT Spesial Force, di terjunkan di area Drop Zone menggunakan pesawat CN-295 di Tompaso, Minahasa. Setelah mendarat dalam keadaan senyap dan aman, tim melakukan kompas malam dan melanjutkan pencarian pesawat dan pilot yang jatuh di daerah musuh. Setelah menemukan korban pilot, tim selanjutnya mengevakuasi ke daerah aman di luar garis musuh (safe zone).

Selanjutnya pada pagi hari, tim gabungan mengarahkan dan menuntun pesawat tempur F-16 US Air Force dan TNI AU, untuk melancarkan penembakan dan membombardir daerah musuh. Tim Gabungan melaksanakan operasi dengan mendatangkan Helikopter EC-725 untuk mengevakuasi pilot ke daerah aman di home base.

Demikian sekilas skenario yang dilaksanakan dalam Latihan bersama antara PASKHAS TNI AU dan CCT Special Force dari Amerika Serikat, bersandi “ SPEAR IRON 2018 “ di Lanud Sam Ratulangi. Latihan bersama antara TNI AU dan US PACAF ini di mulai sejak tanggal 12 Maret sampai 23 Maret 2018. Latihan penerjunan malam yang dilaksanakan di daerah Tompaso Minahasa ini mendapat apresiasi dan perhatian dari masyarakat sekitarnya. Masyarakat berbondong – bondong ingin menyaksikan operasi penerjunan di malam hari yang hampir tidak pernah di lakukan sebelumnya di daerah ini. Dalam latihan ini di terjunkan dari paskhas TNI AU sebanyak 15 personil sedangkan dari CCT special Force sebanyak 9 personil. Latihan berahir pada siang harinya pukul 10.00 Wita.

Kegiatan latihan ini turut di dukung oleh pemerintah setempat, baik kepala desa, camat, unsur satuan samping dari Koramil Kakas, pihak kepolisian dan dinas kesehatan Minahasa.


Navy to Get 3 More Patrol Planes from Japan Next Week

MANILA -- The Philippine Navy (PN) will formally receive three more Beechcraft King Air TC-90 patrol airplanes from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) on March 26.

The turnover ceremony will take place at the Naval Air Group, Naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite City, Navy spokesperson Capt. Lued Lincuna said in a message Thursday.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana will be the event’s guest-of-honor and speaker. He will be joined by Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda and other delegates of the JMSDF and Japan Ministry of Defense.

The first two TC-90s were delivered to the Philippines last March 27. With the arrival of the three airplanes, the number of Philippine-operated TC-90s will climb to five.

Last Jan. 31, one of the first two delivered planes, with tail number 390, conducted its first maritime air patrol mission off Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal, Zambales.

The TC-90 has a range of more than 1,000 nautical miles, and a cruising speed of 260 knots, and is capable of carrying eight passengers along with the pilots.

As of this time, the Navy is operating six Norman Britten "Islander" patrol aircraft, four GAF "Nomad" airplanes, five AgustaWestland combat utility helicopters, and one Robinson R-22 training helicopter.

The TC-90, which is part of the Beechcraft King Air aircraft family, was offered by Japan shortly after the Agreement Concerning the Transfer of Defense Equipment and Technology was finalized on Feb. 29, 2016.


Rheinmetall Wins Major order from Australia

Australia is procuring artillery ammunition from Rheinmetall. Under its “Land 17 Phase 1C.2 Future Artillery Ammunition” project, the Australian Defence Force will soon be taking delivery of various projectile types from the Rheinmetall Assegai family as well as fuses and propelling charges, supplied by a team consisting of NIOA, Rheinmetall Waffe Munition, Rheinmetall Denel Munition, Nitrochemie and Junghans Defence. The first qualification lots will already be shipped this year. A second partial delivery will take place in 2019. Following successful qualification, Australia will also procure war reserve stocks of the new ammunition.

Encompassing supply of the qualification lot and war reserve stocks, the order – awarded at the end of last year – is worth around AU$ 100 million, roughly €65 million. The contract also includes several options for further five-year periods, with a total value in the triple-digit million AU$ range.

The order represents a significant success for Rheinmetall in several respects. It will enable the Group to establish itself in coming years as Australia’s sole supplier of artillery ammunition. In addition, it is the first time a M777A2 field howitzer user nation has opted for the Assegai family. The armed forces of Canada and the United States, among other nations, also deploy the M777A2.

The ammunition will be supplied via Rheinmetall’s partner NIOA. Headquartered in Brisbane, NIOA is the largest supplier of ammunition and weapons systems to Australia’s military and law enforcement agencies. NIOA has also been cooperating closely with Rheinmetall for decades on other projects. The company joined the Rheinmetall Land400 team in May 2017.

Just last week, following a rigorous selection process, the Australian government announced its intention to buy Rheinmetall’s Boxer multipurpose wheeled armoured vehicle under Australia’s Land400 Phase 2 programme. Presuming the procurement contract is awarded as planned, the order will mean over €2 billion in sales for the Düsseldorf, Germany-based tech group. A total of 211 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles are to be built for the Australian Forces.


Vietnam Meng-upgrade Korvet Pohang Class

Seperti diberitakan sebelumnya, Korea Selatan telah menghibahkan Vietnam korvet anti kapal selam kelas Pohang bekas pakai, yang telah tiba di pangkalan Angkatan Laut Vietnam dan diberi nomor lambung baru "18".

Melihat gambar diatas, mudah untuk dilihat bahwa pada bagian buritan kapal bagian depan telah dilepaskan peluncur torpedo 324 mm beserta kanon 76 mm Oto Melara, kemudian didepannya dipasang kanon 40 mm Nobong gun menggantikan Sea Vulcan 20 mm.

Masalah yang menjadi perhatian setelah munculnya kapal itu adalah apakah Vietnam dapat meningkatkan konfigurasi senjata untuk Pohang, karena kapal ex Angkatan Laut Korea itu mampu berubah menjadi sebuah kapal berudal multi guna.

Baru-baru ini, korvet 1.200 ton ton ini diungkapkan secara rinci dalam sebuah laporan oleh Vietnam National Defense Television, serta dijelaskan tentang operasi kapal perang saat memasuki layanan di Angkatan Laut Vietnam.

Saat ini, korvet 18 masih ada di Depo X46 - Departemen Teknik Kelautan. Pada kuartal pertama 2018 ini, misinya adalah untuk memperbaiki dan meningkatkan kemampuan kapal korvet ini untuk menghadapi kapal selam besar kemudian menyerahkannya ke Wilayah Laut II.

Dengan demikian, kapal perang ini tidak hanya akan diperbaiki, dirombak tetapi pekerjaan juga termasuk "peningkatan".

Meskipun tabung torpedo 324 mm ringan telah dihapus, namun yang masih berharga adalah perangkat sonar kapal ini yang masih tetap ada.

Jika perangkat ini masih utuh maka semuanya akan jauh lebih sederhana, tetapi jika kasus kedua terjadi bahwa ternyata kosong maka Vietnam sepenuhnya mampu melengkapi itu dengan sonar BEL HMS- X2, yang menurut banyak ahli cukup dapat diandalkan.

Selanjutnya, jika kondisi memungkinkan, ruang di belakang kapal yang sudah kosong karena tidak ada lagi meriam 76 mm Oto Melara dapat diganti dengan pemasangan senjata yang canggih.

Secara khusus, dengan adanya ruang terbuka di belakang ini, Angkatan Laut Vietnam dapat melengkapi dengan tabung peluncur torpedo ringan 400 mm bersama dengan peluncur rudal KT-184 untuk rudal Kh-35 Uran-E, juga pemasangan radar Garpun-Bal yang terintegrasi di atap kabin ruang komando.

Rencana di atas akan membantu Angkatan Laut Vietnam memiliki kapal penjaga multi-guna 1.200 ton yang dilengkapi dengan torpedo anti-kapal selam dan rudal anti-kapal untuk mempercepat kemajuan armada.

Saab ready to offer radar tech for new Seoul fighter, if it lands maritime patrol aircraft deal

SEOUL, South Korea — In an attempt to snatch up a maritime patrol aircraft deal in South Korea, Swedish defense contractor Saab has opened the possibility of transferring its advanced radar technology for the KF-X, Seoul’s indigenous fighter jet development program, a Saab representative revealed.

The offer was made as Saab is trying to convince the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, or DAPA, to decide open up for a competitive bid the $1.8 billion anti-submarine aircraft acquisition program, which is expected to go to U.S. Boeing offering the P-8A Poseidon.

Saab is pitching the Swordfish maritime patrol aircraft, built on the Bombardier Global 6000 business jet platform, which the Swedish firm claim shares 70 percent commonality with the GlobalEye airborne early warning and control aircraft.

“We’re open to discuss lots of areas with the DAPA and Korean government,” Richard Hjelmberg, head of Saab’s marketing & sales of airborne ISR, told Defense News during a round-table session at a Seoul hotel on March 20. “If we come to the table for full negotiations and discussions, we’re open to discuss other areas than ones related to the maritime patrol aircraft program.”

The local rules of offset program requires the value of any arms contract bidder to meet at least 50 percent of the total costs of the deal concerned.

Gary Shand, director of sales and marketing of airborne ISR, was more specific about Saab’s list of offset proposals, including the transfer of an advanced active electronically scanned array, or AESA, radar technology.

“We have been talking about the parts production happening in Korea obviously. We have been talking about local industry’s taking part in the integration of certain parts of our mission systems,” he said. “In addition to that, I think Saab has a wide variety of products in portfolio including AESA radar technology for the KF-X program. It could be a discussion point for us to look at the possibility and some cooperation on areas not directly related to the MPA program.”

The ideal of Saab’s AESA tech transfer is expected to draw key attention from the Seoul government since KF-X developers are striving to acquire proven AESA technology.

The state-funded Agency for Defense Development, or ADD, and Hanwha Systems, a local radar developer, joined hands in 2016 to build an indigenous AESA radar to be mounted onto the KF-X. The jet’s development schedule slipped a couple of years beyond its initial goal because of the lack of AESA technology, after the U.S. government’s disapproval of AESA tech transfer following South Korea’s purchae of 40 F-35As.

In May last year, Israel’s Elta Systems was selected by the ADD to support the AESA radar development. Under the contract valued at about $36 million, the Israeli firm is in charge of testing an AESA radar system in every phase of development and integrating it with the KF-X prototype.

“The ADD originally wanted to get AESA technology either from Saab or Thales, but the plan was ruptured due to the issues of requirements and budget,” a local defense source involved in the radar competition said on condition of anonymity. “Elta, after all, participated in the project, but some remain skeptical of Elta’s AESA technology level, as the Israeli company has not actually developed an AESA radar.”

An official at Hanwah Systems, formerly known as Samsung Thales, was trying to brush off worries about the ongoing indigenous AESA development but admitted the benefits of taking other nation’s AESA technology if possible.

“Elta is in charge of certifying every phase of the AESA design and development process, and cooperation with the Israeli company has been quite successful,” the official said speaking on condition of anonymity. “But if we get more advanced technology of AESA, the timeline for development will be advanced for sure.”

KRI Arun-903 Sekarang Dalam Posisi Normal

PK,.Surabaya - KRI Arun-903 dengan komandan KRI Letkol Laut (P) Victor Padamean Y. Siagian, S.T., kembali dalam posisi normal setelah sebelumnya sempat miring beberapa derajat. Penyebab miringnya kapal tangker tersebut menurut Komanda KRI terjadi saat proses pengisian bahan bakar. 

Kronologis kejadian dimulai pada hari Senin tanggal 19 Maret 2018 sebelumnya melaksanakan pengisian bahan bakar KRI dr. Soeharso-990 dengan jumlah 2.248 ton dan kapal posisi miring kiri 0,5 derajat kemudian dibalast ke kanan menggunakan air tawar dan HSD dari tangki 3 dan 4 (wing kiri) ke tangki 3 dan 4 (wing kanan) menggunakan klep, mengalir secara alami dari pukul 07.00 s.d. 07.05 perubahan posisi kapal miring ke kanan 1 derajat dari posisi semula. Posisi ini masih semu karena KRI Arun disandarai KRI dr. Soeharso-990 dan posisi klep sudah tertutup semua.

Pada pukul 08.00 pengisian KRI SHS dimulai dengan mengambil tangki 3 wing kanan sampai dengan pukul 13.31 kapal tetap miring kanan 0,5 derajat dan pada saat itu KRI SHS masih menempel di lambung kanan KRI Arun. Selanjutnya pada pukul 15.30 KRI SHS lepas dari lambung kanan KRI Arun, posisi kapal mulai terjadi penambahan kemiringan sampai dengan lebih dari 10 derajat miring kanan. 

Melihat kondisi kapal yang miring tersebut Komandan KRI Arun dan seluruh ABK melakukan penanggulangan secepatnya dengan memperkuat tali-tali di dermaga agar kapal tidak bertambah miring. Untuk menghidari terputusnya aliran listrik, ABK menghidupkan DG (Diesel Generator) VII untuk mengganti aliran darat ke kapal. Kemudian untuk mengimbangi muatan kapal, dilakukan dengan menyalakan pompa balast. Untuk menahan kemiringsn kapal, komandan kapal berkoordinasi dengan Staf Operasi Koarmatim untuk bantuan kapal tunda. Langkah lainnya yang dilakukan dengan cara memindahkan muatan air tawar dari tanki 1 (wing kanan) ke tanki 1 (wing kiri).

Kemudian untuk mengembalikan posisi semula dilakukan dengan memindahkan muatan solar dari tanki 3 (wing kanan) ke 3 (wing kiri), namun penanggulangan belum berhasil karena kondisi laut yang surut dan kapal posisi duduk di lumpur. Pada pukul 19.00, posisi kapal masih miring kanan 10 derajat. Pada pukul 20.00 kemiringan kapal berkurang menjadi 8,8 derajat, kemudian pukul 21.00 menjadi 7,2 derajat. Proses transfer HSD dilanjutkan dengan pengisian dari tanki 2 dan 3 kanan menuju tangki kiri. Pada pukul 22.00 kemiringan kapal berkurang menjadi 6,5 derajat dan pada pukul 23.00, secara berangsur posisi kapal 3,5 derajat. 

Pemindahan HSD dari tanki kanan ke kiri terus dilakukan sampai kapal dalam kondisi miring 2,5 derajat pengisian tanki 2 dan 3 kanan di hentikan, dilanjutkan pengisian dari wing water balast lambung kiri KRI buritan sampai dengan kondisi kemiringan kapal 1 derajat pada pukul 00.00 dan 0,5 derajat pada pukul 01.00 WIB. Upaya yang dilakukan komandan KRI Arun dan seluruh anggotanya membuahkan hasil dan pada hari Selasa pagi, KRI Arun dalam posisi 0 derajat atau posisi normal. Dari peristiwa ini tidak menimbulkan kerugian baik materiel maupun personel.

Pesawat N219 Diproduksi Massal 2019

Jakarta - Uji terbang pesawat N219 alias Nurtanio memasuki waktu tempuh 18 jam. Angka ini terus bertambah hingga sekitar 300 jam terbang di penghujung tahun ini.

Sekretaris Perusahaan PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) (PTDI) Ade Yuyu Wahyuna mengatakan jadwal uji terbang dilakukan sesuai dengan rencana. Jadwal uji terbang pun tidak serta merta dilakukan tiap minggu, akan tetapi didasarkan pada target 300 jam terbang hingga akhir tahun nanti.

"Itu kita kan sertifikasi 300 jam terbang, 325 jam atau 350 jam," kata Ade kepada detikFinance, Rabu (21/3/2018)

Uji terbang dengan waktu tersebut dibutuhkan sebagai syarat mendapatkan type certificate. Type certificate adalah sertifikasi kelaikan udara dari desain manufaktur pesawat. Sertifikat ini dikeluarkan oleh Direktorat Kelaikan Udara dan Pengoperasian Pesawat Udara (DKUPP) Kementerian Perhubungan.

"Type certificate akhir tahun ini baru boleh diproduksi setelah 2019," ujar Ade.

Ade mengatakan, di 2019 PTDI akan memproduksi enam unit N219. Pesawat N219 tersebut langsung dipasarkan kepada maskapai yang sebelumnya sudah berminat membeli N219.

"2019 produksi langsung enam. Itu target kita memang lumayan," kata Ade.


Philippine Navy Commissions Second Donated TC-90 Aircraft

The Philippine Navy has commissioned another Beechcraft TC-90 King Air aircraft from Japan.

The aircraft, which was formerly in service with the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) as a training platform, was commissioned on 19 March in an ‘activation and blessing’ ceremony at the services Naval Air Group headquarters at Sangley Point, Cavite City, and given the tail number 392.

The aircraft is part of an assistance package of five TC-90s donated by the Japanese government to improve the Philippine Navy’s maritime surveillance capabilities.

Tim Parako Kopassus Spesialis Perang Hutan, Salah Satu Commander Asset Terbaik Panglima TNI

Setapak menjelang masuk ke medan survival Kopassus di Pusat Pendidikan dan Latihan Pasukan Khusus (Pusdiklatpassus) Situ Lembang, Bandung (16/3/2018), Panglima TNI Marsekal Hadi Tjahjanto sudah ditunggu prajurit dari Tim Parako Kopassus, spesialis perang hutan.

Tim Parako ini berdiri dalam posisi berbanjar, mengenakan pakaian perang hutan plus peralatan dan persenjataan lengkap. Profil mereka terlihat ideal sebagai pasukan khusus, dengan tinggi rata-rata sekitar 170 cm.

Yang langsung menyita mata dari sosok prajurit Parako ini adalah seragam yang mereka kenakan. Dinamakan SAMAR, yang merupakan singkatan dari Spektrum Adaptasi Mata Anti Refleksi, pakaian dinas lapangan (PDL) ini terlihat begitu menyatu dengan warna hijau di belakang mereka.

Seragam terbaru yang disebut juga hijau lumut ini, memiliki tingkat kamuflase yang nyaris sempurna. Apalagi saat berbanjar itu, di belakang pasukan adalah hutan tropis yang didominasi warna hijau. Perfect camouflage.

Secara spontan, Panglima TNI awalnya sempat menduga seragam ini buatan luar negeri. “Bagus, warnanya sangat cocok karena menyatu dengan alam, saya kira awalnya dari luar,” ujar Marsekal Hadi.

KSAD Jenderal Mulyono yang mendampingi Panglima TNI pun terpancing ingin tahu asal muasalnya. “Dikembangkan melalui swadaya Kopassus dan sudah direkomendasi Kopassus,” aku seorang perwira yang menjadi narator saat menjawab pertanyaan KSAD. Ia juga menyebutkan bahwa seragam SAMAR dibuat di Cimahi.

Perwira ini kemudian memberikan penjelasan singkat kepada Panglima TNI mengenai detail perlengkapan Parako, serta pembagian tugas dari setiap orang dalam sebuah tim tempur perang hutan.

Jika dilihat dari dekat, seragam SAMAR yang didominasi warna olive green menggunakan bahan dasar ripstop yang lazim digunakan untuk seragam militer karena tidak mudah robek. Warna-warna alam lainnya seperti brown dan khaki juga digunakan secara ngacak dalam kolom-kolom desain modifikasi pixel.

Baik Panglima TNI, KSAD, dan perwira petinggi lainnya yang hadir mengakui sempurnanya desain SAMAR dalam vegetasi Indonesia.

Kepada Marsekal Hadi, perwira narator kemudian memperkenalkan sosok prajurit Parako yang di antara sukses mereka adalah pada akhir tahun lalu berhasil membebaskan sandera di Distrik Tembagapura, Papua.

Mulai dari atas kepala, setiap prajurit menggunakan topi rimba dan alat pandang malam AN/PVS-14 Monocular Night Vision Device (MNVD). Setiap prajurit juga membawa adventure lights yang disangkutkan di rompi serbu.

Dalam penggunaan militer, adventure lights yang kedap air dan tahan menghadapi benturan sangat dibutuhkan sebagai salah satu tanda kenal dalam kondisi SOS. Untuk kebutuhan militer, lampur strobo digunakan dalam fungsi infra merah untuk membantu saat NVG digunakan.

Membuat Panglima TNI kagum, pakaian dan semua asesoris yang digunakan ternyata buatan dalam negeri. Seperti ransel Kartika buatan PT Sritex. Ransel ini dikatakan sudah teruji dalam pembebasan sandera di Tembagapura. Ransel Kartika mampu membawa bekal untuk lima hari penugasan.

Begitupun rompi, juga produk dalam negeri. Rompi ini dilengkapi tiga kantong magasin. Setiap prajurit juga membawa granat tajam bertahan JT-05PE buatan Korea dan kantong P3K.

Tentu saja alat komunikasi berupa radio perorangan keluaran Harris yang jamak digunakan di lingkungan TNI.

Untuk persenjataan, setiap prajurit Parako terlihat dibekali pistol SiG-Sauer kaliber 9mm produksi Jerman. Tampilan mereka semakin keren dengan penggunaan speed holster buatan Safariland dari Amerika Serikat.

Holster atau sarung senjata dengan karakteristik seperti ini didesain untuk menghadapi situasi taktis, yang memberikan kecepatan reaksi bagi penggunanya untuk mengambil pistolnya. Holster yang digunakan saat ini rata-rata sudah memiliki sistem penguncian mandiri dan tidak kaku.

Menurut beberapa anggota Kopassus kepada mylesat.com, Tim Parako spesialis perang hutan ini berada di Satuan 81 Kopassus. Bangga dan kagum melihat pasukan setangguh Tim Parako.

Inilah salah satu pasukan terbaik yang dimiliki TNI, dan tentunya menjadi commander asset yang sangat diandalkan bagi Panglima TNI dalam menghadapi perang hutan.


KM Tok Bali NGPC Perkukuh Keselamatan Pantai Timur

KUANTAN: Keupayaan Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (Maritim Malaysia) dalam menjaga perairan pantai timur Semenanjung

Malaysia akan diperkuatkan dengan kehadiran kapal maritim baharu iaitu KM Tok Bali pada penghujung April depan.

Pengarah Maritim Wilayah Timur, Laksamana Pertama Maritim Datuk Zulkarnain Mohd Omar, berkata kapal ronda generasi baru dengan teknologi terkini itu adalah kapal buatan tempatan dan akan ditempatkan di Markas Maritim, Tok Bali, Kelantan.

Beliau berkata, kapal dilengkapi dengan pesawat tanpa juruterbang (UAV) berperanan dalam melakukan tugas rondaan dan pemantauan di kawasan operasi selain dilengkapi dengan selaras meriam Aselsan SMASH 30mm dari jenis Remote Controlled Stabilised Weapon Station.

"KM Tok Bali adalah kapal besar yang mampu berada di kawasan perairan dalam jangka 10 hari dan mampu membawa lebih muatan seperti bahan api dan makanan untuk kegunaan ketika operasi di kawasan perairan wilayah timur.

"Kita yakin dengan kemampuan aset baharu ini terutama dalam menjalankan tugas rondaan kerana ia boleh membawa 41 kru dalam satu masa sekali gus menjadikannya aset terkini dalam mengawal perairan negara," katanya ketika ditemui NSTP, di sini, baru-baru ini.

Zulkarnain berkata, kapal yang dibina di Limbungan Destini Berhad di Pelabuhan Klang adalah satu daripada enam kapal yang dibina bagi mengukuhkan lagi kemampuan aset sedia ada dalam inventori APMM serta Wilayah Maritim Timur.

Katanya, kapal pertama bagi kelas itu sudah dirasmikan pada sambutan LIMA 2017 di Pulau Langkawi, Kedah dan setakat ini sudah ada tiga kapal iaitu KM Bagan Datuk di Daerah Maritim Klang, KM Sri Aman di Daerah Maritim Kuching, KM Kota Belud di Daerah Maritim Sandakan.

Difahamkan, dua lagi kapal dari jenis sama iaitu KM Kota Kinabalu di Daerah Maritim Kota Kinabalu dan KM Lahad Datu di Daerah Maritim Tawau bakal dilancarkan sebaik proses pembinaannya selesai.

Zulkarnain berkata, penggunaan aset lebih canggih itu mampu menangani masalah pencerobohan nelayan asing terutama dari Vietnam pihaknya kerana ia membolehkan pihaknyamelakukan tugas merisik dan menyalurkan maklumat seperti dimiliki KM Tok Bali.

"KM Tok Bali mempunyai dron yang akan kita terbangkan di kawasan operasi, melalui maklumat pemantauan dilakukan kita boleh menghantar bot peronda dalam jangka masa singkat.

"Secara tidak langsung keberkesanan operasi mampu dipertingkatkan kerana kawasan perairan wilayah timur sangat luas, jadi ketibaan aset ini memang tepat pada waktunya," katanya.

Beliau berkata, buat masa ini APMM Wilayah Timur mempunyai 16 bot dan 12 kapal untuk melakukan tugas pengawasan

perairan di wilayah itu dengan sekurang-kurangnya enam kapal akan belayar setiap hari.

69 Aussie Defence Companies Promoted in Export Push

The second edition of the Australian Military Sales Catalogue was released today to promote the products and services produced by Australia’s defence industry internationally.

Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, said the first catalogue launched in 2017 proved to be a success.

“The Australian Military Sales is an important initiative for us to showcase the vast range of products and services the Australian defence industry can export to our friends and allies to boost their capability,” Minister Pyne said. 

“The catalogue lists selected Australian Defence Force (ADF) equipment available with a demonstrated viable capability that other countries might seek to purchase. It supports our Smart Buyer approach to the acquisition, sustainment and disposal of ADF capability by working more closely with industry.”

“This year’s catalogue has been expanded to include products and services from 69 Australian defence companies – including small and medium enterprises, and companies located across the country including from regional Australia.”

“As Minister for Defence Industry, I am constantly reminded of the enormous ability, skill and determination of our Australian defence industry. The Turnbull Government is supporting them in a number of ways including through the Defence Export Strategy I announced with the Prime Minister on 29 January 2018.

“This catalogue is another way for the Government to help Australia’s Defence Industry reach the markets of our friends and allies. Today’s launch is another milestone that celebrates our successful Australian defence industry as a fundamental input to capability,” Minister Pyne said.

The transfer of ex-ADF equipment to foreign governments is subject to a rigorous approval process independent from the Australian Military Sales Office.

Singapore Denies Leopard 2A7 Acquisition, but Questions Remain Over Anomalies

Singapore’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) has refuted speculation that the country has acquired the A7 variant of the German-built Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) Leopard 2 main battle tank (MBT) that stemmed from a recent entry in the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s (SIPRI’s) Arms Transfer Database.

According to SIPRI’s data – which the institute says is drawn from a range of sources, including the UN Register of Conventional Arms (ROCA), national reports on arms exports and imports, as well as official defence budget documents and parliamentary records – Singapore has acquired 12 Leopard 2A7 MBTs that were delivered in the 2016–17 timeframe. The institute also recorded that the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) received a total of 182 ex-Bundeswehr Leopard 2A4 MBTs in the 2007–12 timeframe, with a number of these used as spares and training.

Meanwhile, a separate check on the UN ROCA database has also shown that Germany reported a transfer of 168 MBTs to Singapore, with the most recent entry in 2016 indicating that seven Leopard 2 MBTs – although of an unspecified variant – had been exported to Singapore, further casting doubt on the official information released by MINDEF.

“In 2006, the SAF announced the acquisition of the Leopard 2A4 from Germany to replace the SM1 tanks,” MINDEF said a 20 March statement. “Since then, the refurnished Leopard tanks have entered service and no other variants of the Leopard has [sic] been acquired by the SAF.”

Only 96 Leopard 2A4 MBTs were ever declared to have been ordered by Singapore in a December 2006 announcement by MINDEF. The first batch of six MBTs was transferred in June 2008 and deliveries are understood to have been completed by mid-2010.

Air Force Declares Initial Operating Capability for the P-8A Poseidon

Australia’s new maritime surveillance aircraft the P-8A Poseidon has achieved Initial Operating Capability (IOC), five months ahead of the original schedule.

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, congratulated Air Force and CASG on the significant milestone that has been achieved.

“Together the P-8A Poseidon and the future MQ-4C Triton aircraft will provide Australia with one of the world’s most advanced maritime patrol and surveillance capabilities,” Minister Payne said.

“The P-8A is a very capable and effective successor to the AP-3C Orion, which will soon retire from the role after nearly 40 years of distinguished service.

“The Poseidon will improve Defence’s ability to conduct Anti-Submarine warfare, maritime patrol and surveillance of Australia’s maritime approaches.”

Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Leo Davies, said declaring IOC was a significant milestone because the P-8A is a fundamental element of Australian Defence Forces future maritime strategy.

“The arrival of the P-8A has allowed Air Force, under Plan Jericho, to develop and evolve new operating concepts, support arrangements and sustainment options," Air Marshal Davies said.

“These will best exploit the P-8A’s sensors and networking as part of integrated Navy and Air Force integrated Maritime Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Family of Systems. 

“The acquisition of the P-8A represents a $5 billion investment in Australia’s maritime patrol capability and along with the MQ-4C Triton, will be a very capable and effective successor to the AP-3C Orion.”

To date, six of Australia’s 12 P-8As have arrived in Australia, operated by Number 11 Squadron from RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.

Pangarmatim Serahkan Kapal Perang ke Setiap Lantamal di Kawasan Timur

TRIBUN-TIMUR.COM, MAKASSAR - Panglima Komando Armada RI Kawasan Timur (Pangarmatim) Laksamana Muda TNI Didik Setiyono memimpin upacara acara serah terima jabatan Komandan Pangkalan utama TNI Angkatan Laut (Danlantamal) VI Makassar.

Acara sertijab ini dilaksanakan di Dermaga Layang Mako Lantamal VI, Senin (19/3/2018).

Komandan Lantamal VI Makassar diserahterimakan dari Laksamana Pertama (Laksma) TNI Yusup kepada Kolonel Laut Dwi Sulaksono.

Sertijab juga dirangkaikan dengan penyerahan secara simbolis unsur KRI dari Aslog Pangarmatim, Kolonel Laut (T) Teguh Sugiono kepada Aslog Danlantamal VI Makassar Letkol Laut (T) Sidik Wahono sebagai perwakilan seluruh Lantamal jajaran Koarmatim.

Penyerahan KRI ini menyusul pemisahan komando kapal-kapal Satrol kepada 14 Satuan Keamanan Laut (Satkamla) Lantamal dari Komando Kawasan Armada (Koarmada).

Pangarmatim Laksda Didik Setiyono mengatakan, kapal-kapal perang TNI AL yang dulunya satuan kapal patroli Koarmada, sekarang menjadi satuan kapal patroli Lantamal.

"Sekarang sudah ada Perkasal baru, jadi kapal-kapal yang tadinya menjadi satuan kapal patroli di Koarmada, baik itu armada barat maupun timur, sekarang kapal-kapal patroli diserahkan ke setiap Lantamal," jelasnya.

"Di Lantamal itu juga ada satuan kapal patroli, di sini ada dansat untuk patroli di wilayah kerjanya masing-masing," kata dia.

Laksamana bintang dua ini menjelaskan, ada 29 kapal yang diserahkan ke Lantamal di Indonesia.

"Jumlahnya tidak sama setiap Lantamal, ada dapat satu ada juga dua, bergantung tingkat kerawanan wilayah itu," pungkasnya.
